On May 19, 2024, the technical achievement appraisal meeting for the "Key Technologies and Industrialization of Differentiated Functional Polyester Marine Fibers" project of Shandong Hualun Advanced Materials Co., Ltd. was successfully held at the Hualun Advanced Materials R&D Center. The appraisal meeting was organized by the China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), and presided over by Zhang Chuanxiong, director of the Science and Technology Development Department of CNTAC.
The meeting invited seven renowned experts in the field to form the appraisal expert committee: Chen Wenxing, President of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Professor Wang Rui, Dean of the School of Materials Design and Engineering, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology; Professor Xia Yan Zhi, Dean of the Ocean Fiber New Materials Research Institute, Qingdao University; Li Deli, Secretary-General of the National Standardization Technical Committee for Chemical Fibers and senior engineer of the Chemical Fiber Industry Association; Cui Ning, professor-level senior engineer of the China Textile Science Research Institute; Jiang Runxi, chief engineer and professor-level senior engineer of Lu Pu Nai Te Group Co., Ltd.; and Song Weiguang, chairman and senior engineer of Shandong Binhai New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. Academician Chen Wenxing served as the chairman of the expert committee and participated online. Zheng Jun, deputy county magistrate of Junan County, attended the meeting and delivered an important speech. Zhang Lili, deputy director of the County Committee Organization Department and director of the County Committee Compilation Office; Shi Fei, party secretary of the County Science and Technology Bureau; and Zhao Jingyun, director of the County Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Development Service Center, also participated in the appraisal meeting.
The expert committee conducted an on-site inspection of the project, visited the Hualun Advanced Materials high-performance industrial fiber exhibition hall, listened to the work report, technical report, testing report, and application report from the project completion unit team, reviewed relevant appraisal materials, and after questioning and discussion of the project's technical achievements and innovations, the appraisal committee unanimously agreed that the project passed the appraisal, giving the "Key Technologies and Industrialization of Differentiated Functional Polyester Industrial Filaments for Marine Use" project an appraisal opinion of internationally advanced level.
The project was jointly completed by Shandong Hualun Advanced Materials Co., Ltd., Donghua University, and Jiangsu Ocean University. The project overcame the key technology of preparing functional polyester masterbatches with controllable molecular structure; developed polyester solid-phase tackification and simultaneous functionalization technology, embedding functional groups into the macromolecular chains of polyester; completed macromolecular structure modification, improving the degree of functionalization and the uniformity of functional masterbatch dispersion; developed reactive functional oil agents and fiber surface treatment technology, improving the creep resistance, strength, and antibacterial and antifouling effects of fiber products; and developed a complete set of preparation technologies for marine polyester fibers, realizing the industrialization of creep-resistant, anti-biofouling, and surface-activated polyester industrial filaments.
A 5,000-ton/year functional polyester industrial fiber production line has been built and is operating stably. The project has applied for 8 invention patents, 6 of which have been authorized, 12 utility model patents have been authorized, and 5 related standards have been participated in. Project products have been widely used in marine cables, geogrids and geotextiles, underwater protective nets, marine ranches, and membrane structure skeleton materials, achieving significant economic and social benefits.
The project results have further significantly improved the physical and chemical properties of existing marine polyester industrial fibers, solving problems such as low strength modulus, poor weather resistance, weak functionality, and short service life of existing fibers, and addressing some "bottleneck" material and technical problems for the development of China's marine industry.
